Maria José Oliveira

Maria José Oliveira (1943,Lisbon in 1943) began her research on ground kilns in Ribolhos, in the Viseu region, in 1967, with Master Albino, one of the last archaic potters. She attended the ceramics course at IADE between 1973 and 1976 and, in 1978, the sculpture course at Ar.Co. She was also a guest lecturer in the Ceramics Department at Ar.Co between 1991 and 1997. Since 1982, Maria José Oliveira has participated in several solo and group exhibitions, establishing herself as a prominent figure in contemporary Portuguese art.
